Yesterday, I received a letter stating that I passed the Phase I Testing! Woo-hoo!
Big relief, but by no means home-free. I now have 10 days to send in additional information, including why I'd like to be an agent.
My biggest hurdle is still the PFT. While I am steadily losing weight, I am still nowhere near passing the PFT. The form is required to move onto Phase II. My strategy is to delay Phase II testing by 2 months to get in shape enough to pass. My fear is that it will hurt my competitiveness. I'm going to fcall the Field Office (FO) to get a feel for this. Not much I can do about it now, but it would be good to know. Technically, passing Phase I does not guarantee that you get invited to Phase II Testing, but when I spoke to the FO initially, they informed me that they were trying to invite the most competetive (those who they believe can and will make it through Phase II) to Phase I. So, it's a matter of time and their preference. We shall see...
In the interim, I have to just keep pealing the lbs. and workout incessantly.
On another note, I read in an FBI "career guide" book that when you are assigned to a FO, if your home doesn't sell after several months, there is a company under contract to the Gov't who will buy it from you! You probably take a beating on the price, but at least you get out from under that yoke. I'm not trying ot get ahead of myself, but I thought that was pretty cool considering all the other stresses that would come with relocating as a new agent.
